BCAS TECH EXPO

 

The “BCAS TECH EXPO” was held on the 17th, 18th, & 19th of September 2015 for the 6th consecutive year at the college premises. The exhibition was organized by the IT students of BCAS Kandy Campus and it was declared to open by a prominent figure in the, Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama,Senior Academic Consultant – BCAS, Former Vice Chancellor – University of Colombo, Former Chairman university grant commission. Over 25 final projects of our students were exhibited which enticed a massive crowd which consisted of not only students from a number of schools but also the general public. The unfriendly weather did not hinder the excitement & enthusiasm of the crowd who walked in. The exhibition was full of energy and life from day one.

 

BCAS TECH EXPO was an ideal opportunity for all IT students to showcase their innovative and out of the box thinking which certainly inspired all the spectators. BCAS Kandy Campus is renowned for being the only private institute in Kandy which provides specialization in disciplines of high demand such as Software Engineering, Network Engineering, Web Development as well as Multimedia and Games Development. The course covers 16 modules in four semesters during which the performance of the students is evaluated based on regular assignments. The standards of the assignments are set by EDEXCEL and a well-qualified, dynamic panel of lecturers evaluate the said assignments.

 

As a special event schools were allowed to display their talent as a competition basis to win cash prizes. Over five prominent schools in Kandy including Ranabima Royal College, St. Anthony’s College, Zahira College Mawanella, and Viharamaha Devi Girls’ College Kandy competed for the awards. Zahira College, Mawanella were the champions to walk away with a sum of Rs 10,000/= cash prize.  2nd & 3rd places were secured by Anthony’s College, Kandy & Ranabima Royal College, Kandy who won cash prizes of Rs 7,500/= & Rs 5,000/= respectively. While kindling the interest of IT especially among school students of all levels, the exhibition will undoubtedly provide a glimpse of the contemporary job market heavily riding upon futuristic IT developments.
